A bunch of local people doing what local people do best, getting around their community and showcasing everything that makes this great city, well, great! There'll be a smorgasbord of bands headlined by The Beards on their farewell tour, with the entire day to be MC'ed by South Aussie with Cosi. Huge!
Having been the host of the Inglewood Inn Sampson Flat Bushfire Relief Fundraiser, following the incredible work by local firies across the city to fight back last years New Years Sampson Flat bushfire, Houghtonfest will again be giving thanks to the many selfless heroes who put their lives on the line every summer to keep us safe.
Curated by members of the Houghton Football Club board and real estate mogul Sam Doman, there will be food and bevvy stalls and rides for the kids, Best Beer Gut and Best Beard competitions, and as previously mentioned a lineup of live talent with more than 10 bands taking to the stage throughout the day.
The Beards announced earlier this year that they will be embarking on one final tour across our great nation before packing up and calling it a day. After four of the greatest beard themed albums of all time, this will potentially be the last time you will ever catch the band on stage.
Gracing the stage in and around The Beards will be a couple favourites of ours including The Skeleton Club, Colour Machine and Stuart Rudd (from Superjesus). Bands will be kicking off early in the morning and running well into the night too so you can tell your Laneway hangover to piss over, take the hair of the dog and keep charging on through the weekend.
If you're not a North Eastern regular you're probably asking yourself "Where the hell is Houghton?". Well it's actually pretty simple to get there thanks to the layout of our city. Take either one of North East Road or Lower North East Road from Adelaide city and just keep following that one until you reach the foothills, don't be afraid to venture a couple minutes into the Adelaide Hills and just look for the signs and ta-da!
Scheduled for Saturday 6th of February, yes that is the day after Laneway, Houghtonfest is run entirely by locals who go to extraordinary lengths to support their community. Whoever said nothing happens in Adelaide right? We'll see you there for a bit of a boogie and beverage.
Keep up to date with all the event details here and you can still grab yourself a cheeky ticket before they run out.
